I had lots of very good reviews for a book on language learning I wrote and then one scathing one by someone else who had written one. Mine was for ordinary people trying to learn enough to be able to enjoy a holiday homes and his was for university students. They weren't meant to be the same. I had some encouraging comments, and then one reviewer who tore it to shreds, his main complaint being there was no sense of place. He was vicious, and it threw me completely for a few days. Then, out of curiosity I went and read the opening chapter of his novel, which he'd posted on the same site. It was a veritable Where's Wally of a scene. There was so much description of place I felt I was going to trip over as I read. I resisted the temptation to retaliate, but I'm so glad I read it, it removed all the sting of his criticism. However, I never posted another story on there.dawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02133856309070883818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1102727439817663783.post-34895471948999841472019-09-05T06:49:56.350+01:002019-09-05T06:49:56.350+01:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1102727439817663783.post-20081787701820069902019-02-12T18:08:15.846+00:002019-02-12T18:08:15.846+00:00Thank you for sharing this article on track change...Thank you for sharing this article on track changes, Gill.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09435286947782397610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1102727439817663783.post-1017276336460808762019-01-28T14:12:16.559+00:002019-01-28T14:12:16.559+00:00Thank you for sharing, Gill Thank you for sharing, Gill Paula RChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05550276147711384895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1102727439817663783.post-81744953842852657692018-10-02T17:58:08.981+01:002018-10-02T17:58:08.981+01:00Very interesting Gill. They must keep you busy!

I have two blogs, one for writing and a fairy recent one about the renovation of a French barn. I've had my writing blog for many years because I believe it's important for writer to help promote themselves. I'm working on my fourth unpublished novel, so I'm not writing about my books but making online friends. As you've suggested, I'm blogging about the writing process but also reviews, literary outings, my writing group etc.

When I'm published (now there's optimism on a Friday afternoon) I will already be known amongst the blogging community and won't have to start from scratch. I've already been shortlisted for two national awards and won a writing competition, so onwards and upwards...
Angela Bartonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17221068291904611525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1102727439817663783.post-92091476949904157992016-10-29T12:46:29.808+01:002016-10-29T12:46:29.808+01:00How to publish your own book!?

I think self-published writers are learning the hard way that there is a lot more to being published than just writing a book. since being published by Bridge House I have been marketing the 'Crime after Crime' Anthology all the time not just because my story is in the book because I'm proud of being part of the company in my small way.
